Dr. Jose Latorre was born in Puerto Rico, migrated with his family to CT at the age of 8 growing up in the city of Brigdgeport. He graduated from Central High School, went on to get his Bachelors of Science degree at the University of CT, completed his Masters of Nursing in 2003 and Doctoral Degree in 2017 at Sacred Heart University.
He began his professional career in OHC as Ryan White Program Director from1997 to 2015 and later serving as Associate Medical Director. He is committed to community health initiatives and is a strong proponent of teamwork believing that successful programing is dependent on inter-professional and community collaborations. In 2016 he served as the Director of Ryan White program in Waterbury Hospitals Infectious Disease department where his primary focus was HIV, Hepatitis treatments and Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for vulnerable populations. He has been an advocate of equitable care with a focus on Organizational and Systems leadership through Healthcare Policy Advocacy, Population Health Management, Information Systems Technology, Clinical Scholarship for the transformation of clinical practice, improved patient care delivery and health outcomes with an emphasis on Evidence Base Practice (EBP).
He is passionate about practice change initiatives, improving resources allocation thus influencing outcomes consistent with the Quadruple Aim. He is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is certified as an HIV specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. He has focused his career in the area of Chronic Health Management, HIV Specialty Primary Care with a passion for treatment as prevention and “getting to zero” new infections while maintaining optimal health for all.
Luis Rojas was born in Honduras and grew up in NJ. He obtained a nursing undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in Newark NJ in 1998 and graduated with a family nurse practitioner degree from Rutgers Graduate School in 2000.
He moved to Connecticut in 2001 and has been blessed to be a part of the Bridgeport community since. As a recipient of the National Health Service Corp. he served the under served communities of Bridgeport as a clinician in Southwest Community Health Center, Optimus Healthcare and Family Health Center of St. Vincent’s Hospital. He has been passionate about serving his community with cultural competent care for all. He has been committed to educating the future primary care clinicians and has trained countless of providers whom currently serve a vast community of patients across Connecticut.
In 2017, Luis graduated with a Doctor in Nursing Practice Degree from Sacred Heart University. He then joined Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists and started their primary care wing of the practice. In 2022 he joined Dr. Jose Latorre and together have opened Integrative Healthcare Associates, LLC in Bridgeport CT which will function as a primary care hub and a nurse practitioner practicum educational training institute for both local and on-line schools.
